This policy explains what Pot collects and why. Pot is a supervised research pilot that collects the minimum needed to run the study.
What we collect
What we never collect
The full policy below is the authoritative version.
Account details you provide (username, display name, and a chosen savings goal), a securely hashed password, and your simulated activity within the app (simulated deposits/withdrawals, entries, game rounds, and draw results).
Research demographics. Your date of birth (required — we use it to confirm you are 18+ and as a research variable) and, optionally, your sex/gender. Sex/gender is used for research only and is never shown on your profile or any social surface. An email address is optional, for account recovery and notifications.
We record anonymous product analytics events (e.g. screens opened, games played) to improve the beta and study saving behaviour. These are keyed to your account id, not to any external identity.
No real banking details, card numbers, or real payments — Pot uses simulated money only. We deliberately do not collect your legal full name during the pilot: it is identifiable information with no purpose while money is simulated, and is only requested later if and when real-money features and their identity checks are introduced. We do not sell your data.
Joining Pot during the pilot makes you a Founding Member and requires your consent to take part in the research described above. We record the time and version of the consent you gave. Founding Member status is a cosmetic badge only — it gives no advantage in entries, odds, or the draw. You can withdraw and request deletion at any time (see below).
To operate your account, run the weekly draw, show leaderboards (display name only — never your balance), and understand how the beta is used.
Data is stored in a managed Postgres database. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Sessions use signed tokens.
As a beta, data may be reset between phases. You can request deletion of your account and associated data via support.
